Homewood Health has partnered with the Ontario Centres for Learning, Research & Innovation in Long-Term Care at RIA to provide free access to their online resources to Ontario long-term care home leaders and team members during the #COVID19 pandemic.

These online tools include a self-directed cognitive behavioural therapy program for anxiety and depression, a health and wellness library, helpful articles, 20+ e-courses for stress and anxiety, and other resources to support the health and well-being of those who work in long-term care.

AGE Recognition Awards. Congratulations Alzheimer Society of Windsor-Essex County

We pay tribute to the Alzheimer Society of Windsor-Essex County (ASWE) recipient of a 2018 | 2019 AGE Recognition Award for GPA Leadership Excellence with distinction. This is the third year in a row that ASWE has been a recipient in these awards which recognize organizations that have implemented Gentle Persuasive Approaches (GPA) dementia education for staff with extraordinary effort and outcomes. Last year, 18 ASWE staff members and 285 community members participated in GPA Basics dementia education sessions through the society. We celebrate and pay tribute to Aberdeen Gardens Retirement Residence, recipient of a 2018 | 2019 AGE Recognition Award for GPA Leadership Excellence with distinction. These awards recognize the commitment of organizations that have implemented Gentle Persuasive Approaches (GPA) dementia education for staff with extraordinary effort and outcomes. But it’s not the size of the organization that counts in these awards, it’s the size of their commitment to GPA! Aberdeen is a small and cozy home with just 100 residents in the west end of Hamilton, Ontario. Its leadership and staff are stand-outs in their commitment to ongoing dementia education (including refresher sessions yearly) for all staff. HHS’s leadership and commitment to implementing and sustaining GPA dementia education is truly outstanding. Their award profile is an interesting read; it highlights HHS’s roadmap to safe, respectful and successful person-centred dementia care. Kudos! A marvellous accomplishment.
